Job Description**

Janitors perform routine cleaning and general maintenance work to maintain optimal appearance in their workplace. Your role is to maintain a clean working environment, provide supplies that are needed, and ensure the operation of many of the inner workings of a building. He/ she is responsible for both daily cleaning of hallways, rooms, bathrooms, and many other areas, in addition to handling clean ups any accidents that may occur throughout the day.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Clean rest room facilities and replenish supplies for front offices, plant 1, plant 2, and forging areas.

- Clean assigned areas including furniture, telephones, fixtures, walls, windows, window sills, blinds and vents on a routine basis.

- Sweep, mop, and vacuum all area floors, rest rooms and break areas daily, weekly and monthly.

- Perform general cleaning, light floor care and special event set ups (Associate meetings, Insurance meetings etc).

- Collect and remove trash and recyclables (pop cans) on a routine basis or as needed.

- Works with a variety of equipment such as plant floor sweeper/buffer or other tools

- General maintenance items such as but not limited to; replacing ceiling tiles, painting, cleaning general equipment or moving furniture.

- Disposes of oil totes on a monthly basis or as needed.

- Recycling oil soaked socks to return to plant floor use; by sorting, emptying or disposing on a routine or as needed basis.

- Maintaining front landscaping beds and smaller landscaping beds near visitors parking or within eye range of visitors parking by pulling out weeds by hand or device (no chemicals)

- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules and regulations

- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

- Identify unsafe operations and practices and report the same to Manager immediately

- Practice good time management skills to optimize peak times to prevent down time or delays.

- Researches and recommends quality improvements

Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain safe working environment and informing EHS of potential safety hazards

- Promote teamwork by participating and encouraging others to be involved in Kaizen activities that will improve the company

- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications

- Participate in and lead -Kaizen- activities

Required Experience

- High School or GED required

- At least 1-3 years- experience in janitorial or custodial work

- Fluent in reading and writing in the English language

- Should maintain a sense of urgency, self-motivation and overall good work ethic while performing tasks in a safe manner

- Must be able to plan maintenance strategies

- Must exhibit good organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills.

- Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with all levels of associates

- Positive attitude toward customers and co-workers are expected
